North Carolina

The first commercial winery established in North Carolina, Medoc Vineyard, led the country's wine production in 1835. After more than a century, North Carolina is rebuilding its grape industry and creating promising futures for its farmers and citizens. Today, North Carolina is home to over 70 wineries. North Carolina now ranks 10th nationally in grape production and wine production.

Growers in the Mountains and Piedmont have planted traditional European grape varieties called Vitis vinifera, and French-American Hybrids. Commonly planted varieties include Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Chambourcin, Chardonnay, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Seyval Blanc and Vidal Blanc.

RAFFALDINI VINEYARDS

450 Groce Road
Ronda, NC 28670

Phone: (336) 835-9463
Website: raffaldini.com

Who We Are: Nestled near the Yadkin River and Blue Ridge Mountains, the rolling hills and gentle slopes of the vineyard are blessed with mild breezes that constantly freshen and circulate air. Unique to the vineyard is a predominant amount of broken granite and schist which provide for excellent soil drainage and trace mineral extraction. This gives grape fruit that certain sense of terroir or "place". Moderate elevation levels of 1200 feet and colder facing aspects allow for temperature variation during the growing season which slowly builds acidity and complexity. Most importantly, the vineyard possesses an indescribable sense of totality and energy that only comes from a complete union of spirituality, energy and historic legacy.
