New Mexico New
Mexico's sun-soaked soil and cool high-desert nights frame the modern
return of wine making to the oldest wine producing region in the
country. High desert climate and ideal soil from the fertile regions of
Mesilla Valley, Middle Rio Grande Valley, Mimbres Valley and Rio Grande
Valley feed Cabernet Sauvignon,
Chardonnay, Johannisburg Riesling, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc,
Zinfandel and other classic grapes and fruits to produce award-winning
wines. Total number of Wineries in New Mexico (2007): 39 | ![]() |

Who We Are: Our
sits on the western edge of the old village of Placitas, New Mexico,
between Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Orchards and vineyards surrounding
the winery are watered by a spring-fed irrigation system that dates
back over a thousand years to a
time when the Anasazi people farmed the Placitas Valley. Nearby are
petroglyphs which we have reproduced on our wine labels. Winery

Rondeña Winery was lovingly established in late 1995 as a family
undertaking, with the first plantings in 1990 at the hands of the
vintner and his two young sons, Ross and Clayton. The Tasting Room
opened in August 1997 and a new winery building, with a commemorative
Tricentennial bell tower, completed the winery's expansion in the
autumn of 2004. The elegant estate continues to be the Calvin family
home and retreat for the vintner and his family. | |
