Who We Are: In 1970, Kevin decided he needed a sabbatical from "civilization", so
he took up residence on a large vineyard in the hills of Adelaida to,
"Reflect," as he puts it. There he learned all the aspects of
viticulture from a seasoned dry farmer, Mr. Mel Casteel. He developed a
real love and respect for the way this immigrant nurtured his
head-pruned vineyard. He spent about 10 years there honing his skills
as an organic viticulturist. This is where Kevin also started as a
winemaker. He would make table wines, fruit wines, desert wines - Just
about anything worth fermenting, Kevin was compelled to master.

reality. Lloyd Messer sold his wine and beer distributing business in
Sioux City, Iowa, to search for the ideal growing region for his
vineyard sites. He recognized Paso Robles, California, as an emerging
premium wine producing area. Daughter Dana Brown sold her Iowa wine
distributing business to partner with Lloyd and shape the dream with
her passion and classic style. Erika Messer, Dana’s younger sister,
seized the opportunity to be involved in the winery from the ground up
with a hands-on approach.

Horse Vineyard and Winery and the Kroener Family are happy to announce
the early 2005 opening of the label’s stunning new winery and tasting
room located in beautiful Pleasant Valley, just minutes away from
downtown Paso Robles. Moving
to the Central Coast in 1996, the Kroeners operated Silver Horse from a
converted barn for several years. In 2002, the family decided to embark
on an extensive renovation of the existing operation. The result is a
wonderful new facility; the winery includes a crush pad, production
area, barrel storage, and case goods warehouse, while the stunning new
tasting room is unlike any other in the Paso Robles area. Situated on a
hilltop overlooking hundreds of acres of vineyards, the tasting room
features a sit-down bistro atmosphere, wood-burning fireplace, and
elegant hacienda-style appointments such as 100-year-old ceramic roof
tiles. Visitors are treated to breathtaking views of some of the
Central Coast’s most beautiful vistas, and -- with bocce ball and
horseshoes, outdoor patios and several elegant indoor facilities -- the
venue begs for special events of all kinds.

Santa Barbara wine growing region is located above Los Angeles on the
California coast. Find a good showing of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and
some crisply textured Sauvignon and Riesling. In Santa Barbara County,
Chardonnay is the predominant grape with 8,000 acres, and Pinot Noir
follows with 2,900 acres.

Barbara Winery is the oldest winery in Santa Barbara County.
Established in 1962 by Pierre Lafond it was the first winery since the
end of prohibition in the 1930s. Although its vineyards are located in
the western end of the Santa Ynez Valley the winery since its inception
has been in the city of Santa Barbara just two blocks from State
Street, its main shopping street as well as two blocks from the beach
and thus very accessible. The Visitors area is open to the barrel room

Vineyards at Royal Oaks, planted in the fall of 1998, are located in
Santa Ynez at the intersection of Highway 154 and Roblar Ave. There are
a total of 18 acres planted with an additional 8 acres held in reserve
for future plantings. The varietals planted at this time are Sauvignon
Blanc, Merlot and Semillon. The Semillon grapes which will be used for
blending. Our first harvest was in 2000 and the Estate Sauvignon Blanc
produced from those grapes at that time has just been released in May
2003.

Ranch Winery is a small, family owned and operated winery specializing
